Terry goes coast to coast for Fastaid

April 28th, 2009

april-09-529New Fastaid recruit Terry Flower is setting off this Friday (1st May) on a four day cycling challenge. After starting with his wheel in the Irish Sea he will cycle the 147 miles, half of which are off road, to the North Sea on the infamous Coast to Coast ride.

Originally Terry was doing the ride for ‘pleasure’ but became involved with Fastaid by chance when a visitor was suddenly taken ill at his home recently.” As well as despatching an ambulance, 2 CFRs attended.  They arrived within minutes, assessed the patient and quickly administered oxygen.  Following that incident, I have offered to train as a CFR Volunteer and to raise funds for the vital life saving equipment volunteers carry with them.”

So far Terry has raised £1,700 and is closing on his target of £2,000 (the cost to equip one CFR). Fastaid chairman Tim Atherton said “We wish Terry the best of luck with his ride and we are extremely grateful to him for raising valuable funds”.
