RC184 Receiving over
June 17th, 2010
A Community First Responder group in Solihull has had a busy few months attending 999 calls, thanks to ARP. Terry Flower, Tim Atherton, Mark Atherton, Linda Atherton, Karen Ratcliffe and Sam Jackson provide voluntary cover in Solihull and the surrounding areas. With their very own FastAid car, an Alfa Romeo sponsored and funded by Guest Alfa, the CFRs (call sign RC184)usually respond seven days a week. After going live with a handheld ARP on 12th April, they attended almost 50 cases in May. Terry said: “This is a staggering increase considering we attended just six cases in January and February. It’s easy to use and EOC can send us on jobs more efficiently which means we go mobile much faster. The ARP also gives us an immediate means of contacting EOC. It really has given us a new lease of life!” Emma Wilkins, Community Response Manager, said: “The ARP has increased the CFR’s activation dramatically. It undoubtedly means the CFRs are getting to patients sooner. It’s been so successful that we’ve done the same with the
Aldridge based CFR group. Well done to everyone involved.”
