Fundraising at Sainsburys in Harbourne
March 27th, 2012
FastAid CFRs John and Marie Harrington, Ashley Almquest and Hazel Ellett spent 14th February at Sainsburys on the High Street in Harbourne. They were raising awareness about the FastAid scheme and, with help from supermarket staff, managed to raise a heart stopping £825 in the process!
With ResusAnnie on hand, CFRs got members of the public to try out ‘hands only’ CPR following the British Heart Foundation’s recent campaign featuring Vinnie Jones.
John Harrington, CFR, commented “There was a lot of interest from young and old. Plenty of volunteers had a go at CPR ranging from Sainsbury’s employees and customers to a West Midlands PCSO. It was a little cold and very windy but the South Birmingham responders managed to leave at the end of the day with a cheque for £825.00, a huge thank you to everyone involved.”
Sainsburys store manager added that they hope to raise more money for the CFRs again soon.
