Training
All responders are trained to a high standard to the IHCD 'First Person On Scene' Basic and Intermediate awards. Training is provided by West Midlands Ambulance Service and is carried out over several weekends and evenings. The course covers the following aspects of emergency care.

- Module 1 - Introduction, Basic Life Support and Defibrillation.
- Module 2 - Medical Emergencies.
- Module 3 - Traumatic Emergencies.
- Module 4 - Preparing for Active Duty.
The Community First Responder must also complete training and observations with ambulance crews and a Community Paramedic before going live.
Continual training
Local Community Paramedics provide monthly training in a variety of subjects and all Community First Responders are required to re-qualify taking a defibrillator assessment every 90 days.
